BSNL Panta Tablet
Bharat Sanchar Nigam LTD (BSNL) has launched Android 2.3 based three tablets including two 7 inch resistive screen based tabs and one is comes with an 8 inch capacitive touchscreen.
The tablets will be sold with discounted data plans from BSNL. The Priced of three tablets are Rs 3,250, Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500.
The cheapest model is Panta Tpad IS 701r which is priced at Rs 3,250. Notably, Aakash is priced at just Rs 2500. However, Tpad has better specification than the Datawind's low cost tablet.

Better, upgraded Aakash tablet will now come at a higher price
The Aakash 2 will sport a capacitive one, enthusiasts will also have to brace themselves for an enhanced price tag, confirms an Indian Express report. According to the report, you got a better, upgraded Aakash tablet will now come at a higher price, than the earlier promised $35 price tag. Quoting one of the officials on the matter, the report states that, "It has been decided that we can go up to $50 for Aakash 2, which will come with a capacitive touchscreen besides a faster processor and other features. However, under no circumstances will we go beyond $50."

Government planning to engage IITs in Aakash tablet Project
The government is now taking away responsibility of the procurement of the Aakash tablets from IIT-Rajasthan and DataWind was given extension only till March. Presently IIT-Rajasthan and DataWind has already delayed the supply of the Aakash tablet. Now Government is planning to engage three more IITs in the Aakash tablet project.

Aakash 2 tablet will be launched within same price
The Aakash 2, the improved version of Aakash tablet, will be fully indigenous and manufacturer DataWind will not be associated with the project anymore. The Indian government has said that the Aakash 2 tablet will be launched within same price range as that of the original Aakash. Confirming the development, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal further revealed that the government has now roped in C-DAC and ITI into the Aakash project in the view of IIT-DataWind spat over specification issues. The minister stressed that the new Aakash will have upgraded features with made in India tag.
